Stern is translated from German as Star. This company name was not chosen by chance.
Our company consists of like-minded people, united in the knowledge that we are all one. Therefore, an individual approach and a holistic view of life and death define our way of working. Our office is in Hilversum and we provide funeral services throughout the Netherlands.
Irina Makavej, founder of Stern Funeral Service
First, Stern is the family name of the company's founder, Irina Makavej. Second, we believe that people are made up of the same building blocks as stars. Falling stars and our deceased loved ones always leave a trace and remind us of our connection to the Universe.
"People do not simply disappear from planet Earth, nor do relationships with a deceased person disappear. They change. We combine such concepts as matter, spirit and the aesthetic in the organization of farewell and funeral ceremonies."
